Toxic Baby Bottles

This has been getting a lot of press lately. Honestly I didn't really pay much attention to it since Phoenix has been off the bottle for a few months now. Another mommy on my baby board brought up the concern of the same chemicals leeching out in her water bottle. So of course now I have to do some research. :) Apparently the chemical BPA (bisphenol-a) is toxic when heated. It mimics estrogen and induces early puberty. Well I wash everything in the dishwasher so it's "heated". You can easily identify which products contain BPA by looking at the recycling numbers on the bottom of the bottle. Ones to avoid are 3, 6, and 7. Yesterday while cleaning my kitchen of these items I threw out Jaceys nalgene sippy bottle, 2 nalgene water bottles, 3 medicine spoons from the pharmacy, 2 medicine cups from liquid tylenol/nyquil bottles, 2 of my favorite latte cups that were made out of hard plastic, and 95% of Phoenix's baby food. The baby food in the plastic containers were both gerber and the walmart brand. They both had 7's on them so in the trash they went. This chemical is also used in the lining of canned infant formula. LOVELY!!! That's all I used for the girls. So I'm on the search for stainless steel water bottles and sippy cups. I've come across these foogo sippys and these Sigg water Bottles and I might give them a try. They're both kinda pricey but it might be a price I'm willing to pay to keep the toxic chemicals out of my childrens bodies. Here are a few links if you're interested in finding out more.

NOOOOO, not the Nalgene sippys!!! :) I have a Foogo sippy for Caroline and I love it! I use it when we go to church--for her milk. Anywho, in to the pantries I go to see what I have to throw out. Thanks for the info!

Isnt it insane? I was going to get Applesauce the little individual ones but I guess I'll stick to just glass jars and pour them into bowls. They use it to line food cans too. Can you imagine that crap!!! The jello cups too, you know they pour it in hot and then it sits and cools.

Something has to be done!
