Back to normal

It's time to get back to a normal routine again. The christmas festivities are over. The relatives have all gone back to their homes. The wrapping paper mountain has been taken out to the trash. Jazmin got tons and tons and tons of new clothes for christmas. (What could make a girl happier?) So we cleaned out her closet and her dresser to make room. Jacey and Phoenix got additions to their closets too but theirs was much easier to manage. :) The girls are all enjoying the new video rockers and the wagon that santa brought. Daddy and I are contemplating exactly which new kitchen gadget needs to be added to our household. I hope to get some new pics uploaded this week. Sorry for the lack of them the last few days. :)

No power!

Last night we got a few inches of snow and lots of wind. Everything was fine this morning......until 10 or so. Then the power went on and off about 20 times till it finally went completely out. The bad thing was we had no heat and it was about 25 degrees outside. So the kids layered on the clothes and played around getting nice and toasty warm. I went to walmart to get food that didn't have to be cooked or microwaved. By the time I got back everyting was back on again. Dunno what happened but I sure hope it doesn't happen again!

Christmas Lights

We decided to take avantage of the nice weather last night and go look at christmas lights. So we loaded up the kids and the hot chocolate and off we went. The first place we hit was the crazyxmasdocs house. It was so cool. It had traffic stopped in the street in both directions. We had to get out of the van to see the lights. I know I posted video before but here it is again a little bit different this time. Lights!! I could sit there for hours just watching the lights. Rumor has it that Santa is going to make a stop there christmas eve so we're going to go back and see. :) Then we went out to Bishop Hills and looked at all the pretty lights out there. It's a little community outside of town where 99% of the residents decorate for the season. It's pretty neat to see. Sorry I don't have pics. Just too hard to get a good pic of lights from a moving van. There is one house where every square inch of their property is covered in lights. I'm not kidding!! Even the rocks have lights on them! It's pretty cool. Hopefully the weather will cooperate and we'll be able to go back out and see them again. *sigh* Have I told you how much I like lights?

12 Random things about Christmas

I've been tagged once again. This time I have to list 12 random things about christmas. Here goes....

1. I hate wrapping. I can never seem to get it to look right. I'm all about gift boxes! :D

2. Hot chocolate with whipped cream!

3. Bubble lights!!! I love my bubble lights!!!

4. I love to decorate. I start decorating the day after thanksgiving and I leave the decorations up well after the new year. Things are put away by feb at least. :)

5. I can't bake cookies. I burn them 90% of the time.

6. All my stockings that are hung up are mismatched. Hopefully that will change next year.

7. I wrap presents for the dogs and put them under the tree.

8. Every year Jazmin makes a key to hang on the front door to make sure that Santa can get in because we don't have a chimney.

9. Butter cookies...... yummmmmmmmm

10. After christmas sales

11. I try not to regift. :D

12. We open our gifts on christmas eve. Can't bring myself to wait till christmas morning. :)

That was easy! Completely and totally random. :) Now I tag Jessica, Sunita, Crissa and Alex.

Mia Update

Wonderful, wonderful news!!!! Mia is out of cardiac icu and has been moved to a regular room!!! They're still working on getting her off her other meds and trying to fatten her up. She hasn't gained an ounce in the month that she's been there. Her big sister (Devin-2) finally got to see her again after 3 weeks of not being able to see her. I think things are starting to look up for them. Isn't God good? :)

Sprinkles

Yes folks, that's what Jacey now requests on her peanut butter sandwiches. Ever since we did sugar cookies with sprinkles on it the other weekend she's become obsessed with them! Sprinkles on everything!!! Sprinkles on peanut butter can't taste very good......can it????

CrazyXmasDoc

The local newspaper did a story on a man called the CrazyXmasDoc this morning. He's a dr here in town who really gets into the holiday spirit. He decorated his home with lights and even set them to music. He says that he takes vacation the first week in November and spends 12 10 hour days to get this all done. It looks amazing. We are hopefully going to go see it in person this weekend. For everyone else, here's a link to his video Crazy Christmas Lights

Tagged!

Alright, I've procrastinated long enough. :) I've been tagged by Melissa . The object of this post is to describe yourself with an adjective with each letter of your middle name. Thankfully I have a short middle name. :D

L-Loving. Yup, that's right. I'm that find a dog in the middle of the street, take them home kinda gal. It's only fitting that I became a mom so that I could pass my love around.

E-Easy going. I try to go with the flow and not ruffle too many feathers along the way.

E-Enthusiastic. I don't think anyone can be a parent and not be enthusiastic. All the new milestones your little one reaches. You can't help but be excited about them.

There, now that wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be. Now, I tag Crissa, Sunita, and Alex. I hope you all have short middle names! :D

Daddy has had this ornament for a very long time. Santa is a good 6 inches or so around. He's just adorable! By the way, Gran we got your package today. It's killing Jacey not to be able to open the presents. Ok, ok, I'll be honest.....it's killing ME not to be able to open the presents! :) Yours is going out soon. I promise!

Last minute christmas ideas

Are you in need of last minute christmas ideas? Have I got a deal for you!!! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=230200201664&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=013
100% of these sales will go to benefit Mia. She's not doing very well. She's still in the hospital in Dallas. She's over the rsv but she's fighting infection after infection. Doctors don't know what is causing them. They're trying to wean her off her medications but she has reactions and starts to throw up and spike her temps every time they try. She has to be off her meds and the vent before they can do the operation on her heart. We're hoping for christmas.

It's 11:45 pm.....

Do you know what your co2 level is in your house? I do!!! It's 10 parts per million. Not a whole lot, but enough to make the carbon monoxide detector go off. For those of you that don't know, this is the second time that this has happened to our family. The first time was in 2004 when the co2 levels were in the 400+ parts per million. At 100+ the fire dept has to put on hazard gear. Ya, it was bad. We were all taken to the ER by ambulance and given oxygen therapy. Another hour or so and we wouldn't be here to talk about it today. But today it wasn't so bad. Turns out it was the stove. We cooked supper and we thought that the stove was turned off but in fact the knob got turned in the wrong direction and was on low for a few hours. Luckily nothing burned and it just kept the taco meat warm. The fire dept came and checked everything out for us and agreed that it was probably the stove. We were given the all clear and the kiddos went right back to bed. So.....if you don't have a carbon monoxide detector please get one installed in your home. They're fairly inexpensive and could save your life one day. Ok, end of the public service announcement for the day. :)

Bound to happen sooner or later

It's a right of passage in childhood I think. Jazmin did it. Now it's Jacey's turn. What did she do you ask......Check out the pictures and see for yourself. Jacey's nice long bangs that we're growing out.
Lookin a little thin up top.
Now that's pretty short!!!
Luckily we can hide it with a clippy.
Guess those bangs are going to be growing out for quite a while now.
It really shouldn't suprise me that she did this. We've been growing out her bangs for a while now and she always wears them clipped over to the side. Guess today she got tired of it cuz she took a scissors and started cutting. She came and brought me a whole handful of hair.

Laundromat

So I found myself at the laundromat this afternoon. My comforter is too big for the wash machine at the house so I took it to the laundromat after I picked up Jaz from school. It had been in the dryer for 30 minutes when in walks a gentleman with his things. He proceeded to empty out the contents of his bag into various machines. When he was done, he took the shirt off his back and decided to throw that in there too! So there he was, bare chested for all the world to see!! I don't know if he ended up putting his pants in one or not. I scooped up the kiddos and decided it was time to go with my slightly damp comforter!!

Bubble lights

Today's entry is about my absolute favorite lights.....bubble lights! I don't know what it is about them. The bubbling action, the pretty colors. It just makes me want to sit and stare at them for hours. So here is one for you to enjoy. I wish you could see the bubbling in action. Tonight we're going to the electric light parade downtown. They've got about 60 floats or so all decked out with christmas lights. Then the mayor will light the town christmas tree. It's nothing like Disneys electric light parade but it's fun nonetheless. :) Hopefully we'll have pics to post later. We've got our hot chocolate and blankets ready. :)

Melted

You know that you've got too many lights on the tree when you start to melt the extension cords. We put the tree up over the weekend and we put the lights on a dimmer switch. A few days later the dimmer switch went out. It melted. So I switched over to one of those big ol extension cords that is specifically made for a tree that has all the different plugs down the length of it. It had an on/off switch so that was kind of nice. Well today the lights went out completely. I looked at the cord and it too was melted. Ok. Not just a fluke anymore. Time to address the problem. I have a 7.5 foot non prelit tree. I say non prelit because at one time it used to be prelit but they all went out. So the last time I had the tree up I took all the burned out lights off. Anyone who has ever had a prelit tree go out I'm sure feels my pain. You can't just "unwrap" the burnt out lights....nope.....they're entwined in the tree. I ended up cutting all the lights off the tree. Yup, however many million lights there were, got cut off and we bought new lights that year. So this year we get to put all these new lights up. I can't have the lights simply drape the tree, no, they have to be wrapped around each and every branch so the entire tree is lit. (Thanks Jodi!) :) I love the way the tree looks when you do this. The down side is that it takes alot of lights. 500 to be exact. So I've got those mini lights on the tree, two strands of bubble lights (which I love, love, love!) and two strands of flame tip lights. Now I should have known that the flame tip lights were a little bit too much. They started to get warm right away. But we figured that's the way they were. So after melting episode #2 today I decided to take the flame tip lights off the tree. That was a chore!! But luckily I didn't disturb too many ornaments in the process. ;) So now I have a surge protecter with two seperate extension cords. One for the mini lights, and one for the bubble lights. We'll see how it goes!

Preview of things to come

You're in for a special treat. Since most of you won't be able to see our tree set up in our home, I've decided to share it with you here. Every day in the month of December I will be sharing a special ornament with you all. Here's the first installment. I picked this ornament up at Hobby Lobby just the other day. It's made of polymer clay. It's so hard to find an ornament with 5 on it.

Mickey Wreath

Check out the cool Mickey
wreath that daddy made for the front door.
Isn't it great???

Belated Turkey Photo

Here is a photo of the Jaz and Jacey next to Tom the turkey. The girls had a great time making Tom. Jacey is wearing her new little outfit that I made her. I have a feeling there will be more of these outfits to come!

The convience of walmart

The girls and I went to the mall with Melissa this morning. When we were coming out of the mall we passed a service truck that had a big piece of metal sticking out the back of it. It was just at Jaceys eye level. This is how the conversation went....

Me: Jacey be careful so you don't hit yourself.
Jacey: Why?
Me: Because it will poke your eye out!
Jacey: Oh.......I'll have to get a new one then.
Me: Yes dear
Jacey: Ok, lets go to the store and buy one.
Me: Honey, you can't buy an eye at the store.
Jacey:Why?
Me: Walmart doesn't carry them
Jacey: Oh...you sure?
Me: Yes honey.

She's 3........How does she come up with this stuff?????

It's official

Yup, it's official. Winter has arrived in the panhandle. I had to scrape my windows this morning before I took Jaz to school. And of course I couldn't find the ice scraper so I ended up using a walmart card. Jaz thought that was pretty funny. :)

Black Friday

You know that time of year when all the crazies come out and stand in a big ol long line at 3am waiting and hoping that they get that ONE special gift. Ya well, those crazies would be me and Jodi this year. :D It's been a tradition for us for at least the last 6 years or so. Yup, we were in line for Target at 4:30 am. We were about 50 people back in line. The store didn't open up until 6. It was 30 degrees outside, windy, with snow flurries. The line reached all the way out to the interstate they said. I could only see to the end of the building. I'd estimate that it was a good 500 people at least. The doors opened right on time at 6am ...... then the pushing began. I could have literally stood in one spot and I would have been pushed all the way into the store without moving a muscle. It was crazy! I was able (I mean Santa was able) to snag all the presents for girls. A wagon for Phoenix and video rocker chairs for both Jazmin and Jacey. A couple of dvd stocking stuffers and christmas is offically done! We checked out fairly quickly. There were STILL people coming in from that big ol long line outside. After target we hit Sears and Jodi picked up some tools and some clothes. Excellent prices on them all! Then it was onto Joanns. We had to make a quick pitstop at Starbucks to warm up first though. Joanns was having excellent deals. I got .99 cent a yard flannel to make the girls and daddy some pajama pants. Next on the list was Michaels. Didn't find a whole lot there. Just some wreaths to make a big ol Mickey head. I'll have pics of that real soon. :) And last but not least.....Hobby Lobby. Once again I was able to snag some ultra cheap fabric and an adorable ornament. Pics of that to come too. :) The van was quite a site. Filled from top to bottom!! I could barely see out the back! Those big ol boxes that Santa got sure took up a LOT of room. :) It was almost 1pm before I got home. A good 8 hours of shopping. Pure bliss! I'm off to bed now. I'm pooped!!!

Mia Update

Little Ms. Mia isn't improving at all. In fact she's getting worse. She has a blood infection now too. She has received some blood transfusions and is on oxygen as well as a ventilator. Her little heart is getting very weak. All so much for a little 4 month old to go through. Dear God, Please heal Ms. Mia as I know only you can.

Phoey

Phoey!! Well it looks like the job that daddy applied for isn't going to work out. :( He just got a letter saying that he didn't meet the minimum qualifications. :( Didn't even look at the fact that he's got 11 years of experience. It all depends on that almighty piece of paper. grumble, grumble......

Prayers

Prayers go out today to some dear friends of ours, Josh and Sandy. Their little girl Mia, who is 4 months old is in the hospital with RSV. While being diagnosed they also found out that she has a hole in her heart that will require surgery. The surgeons here in town won't be able to do it so they'll have to make the trip to the "big D" to get it done. If your the praying sort, please lift this family and precious baby Mia up. They can use any prayers you can provide.

a little bit dirty

Most children hate to get a bath. Not Ms. Jacey! She does everything in her power to get dirty to get IN the tub. This morning she was in the bathroom being unusually quiet. That right there should have been a tipoff to me that something was up. So I go in and peek around the corner and the child has toothpaste on her toes!!!! Momma, they were a little bit dirty. So in the tub she goes. She plays around like a fish for almost an hour and proclaims that she's clean and wants to get out. Hmmm, I wonder what her next venture will be to make her "a little bit dirty" as she would say whenever she wants to take a bath.

Meet George

This is George. :) It was a wonderful, wonderful day when George came into our life. He's a hot little number that does his job without complaint. He doesn't protest by turning off or spitting grounds into his filter. He doesn't pee all over the counter like his predecessor did. He's housebroken and I like that. I think George will stick around for quite awhile.

Touch of cold weather

We've had a touch of cold weather here lately. It's had me rummaging through the closets to make sure the girls all have warm coats. Everyone but Phoenix had one that fit. The one I had set aside for her was huge! It swallowed her up. So, off to my favorite place to find her a new one.....ebay. I found a cute litte jacket with a matching hat that would be her size come winter. Or so I thought. Take a look at the pics and see for yourself. This girl is just a little peanut!!! She does have arms in there......somewhere!
I think it's a little big mom.....mom, where are you? I can't see anything!!!!

Disney freaks

Yes, it's true. We're Disney freaks. :)
So we always try to add a little bit of Disney to our daily lives.
This is what the girls had for supper last night.

Happy Halloween

It got cold here today so instead of going to the local trunk or treat outside, we went to the mall and trick or treated inside where it was nice and warm. The girls had a great time!
Jaz is a bit blurry on this one. sorry! Do you have any idea how hard it is to get 3 kids to look at the camera at the same time???
Another blurry one but i just love it....Jaz in the front leading the way and Jacey following in her sisters footsteps.
Jacey watchin out for her little sister.
This is fun!!!! Look at all the candy I've got in there!!!!!
