TGIM

Thank Goodness it's Monday! Most people dread mondays because they associate it with the start of the work week. Me....I associate it with Daddy coming home!!! Woohoo! These kiddos are runnin me ragged! Daddy has been at a conference two time zones away since last week so it will be nice to have him home again. Now to get the kiddos to pick up their rooms so it looks like we actually did something all week. LOL I think I'm going to tackle some unfinished sewing projects that are on my table collecting dust. I never did get to make that cute little apron pattern. :( I drove all the way to the other side of town to buy it and they didn't even have a spot for it! Must be too new I guess. Oh well. Guess my plate if full enough the way it is. Have a great monday everyone!

New do

The time has come for a new hairdo. I haven't had my hair cut since 06!!! I had it cut real short then and Rob hated it so I let it grow out ever since. I like it long but it's just so darn thick and heavy and not to mention HOT!!!! So I went and got a good 6-8 inches cut off the other day. (not quite enough for locks of love unfortunately :( the minimum requirement there is 12 inches I've been told. I don't think I could wait for another 4 inches to grow!) I think Rob will be shocked when he gets home. :) It's not as short as the last time I cut it all off. It's to my shoulders. It's a layered bob. I'll take some pics just as soon I get myself to the store and get some anti frizz products. I'm a total frizz ball!!!! LOL But I was able to get to use my new straightening iron. That helped the frizz a little bit and made my wavy hair nice and straight. Now to find my blow dryer........ And of course since momma had her hair cut the girls wanted theirs done too. So Jaz has a cut very similar to mine but a few inches longer and Jacey has a nice shoulder length bob. Hopefully I can keep the scissors away from her and we won't have any more hair cutting accidents. :)

S.O.R.E.

That's what my arms are. We scored a coveted wii and wii fit last weekend and the kids and I have been playing like crazy. I'm lovin the step and the boxing. But my arms aren't! They're so stinkin sore!!! But that's a good thing right? I can't believe that we waited so long to get this thing. The kids are havin so much fun! Even Jacey is having a good time. She loves to run, run, run! Now to show daddy all the tips and tricks when he gets home. He'll be suprised when he sees all the games we've unlocked. :) Miss you poppa!!

Sewing night

Tomorrow night is sewing night. I'm sure I've blogged about it before. Jojo and I get together every other friday night and sew all night long. This friday it's at my house. I was going through my pattern stash today and wondering what I should make for tomorrow. I have a few stripwork skirts that I have to get made for the girls. A peasant top and pants for Phoenix and an Aline dress for Jacey. BUT..... I think I may put all that on hold and go with one of these patterns. LOL I'm terrible aren't I?

Duck and Cover

This is the reason that I had the kids and the dogs in the closet with blankets and a mattress on top of their heads for almost an hour yesterday. Tornado sirens were going off all over town. A tornado touched down about a mile away from the house. It was so windy outside that it sounded like a freight train was outside the window. Scary stuff. The first picture is what is left of an airplane hangar at the airport. The second pic is where a tornado came down and touched the ground but apparently didn't hurt anything. I'm just glad that we're all ok now. Now.....to seriously think about putting a storm shelter in the backyard.

Overkill

Apparently it was a very slow day for the APD yesterday. Sigh.... For the last week or so we've been meeting Rob for lunch at a local park. The park has sprinklers for the kids and lots of shade. So after we have our lunch the kids go and play. Yesterday we brought the camera so we could get some fun shots of the kids playing in the water. Everything was going well until 3....yes 3 cop cars pulled up. First there was one that slowly drove past our van and then made a u turn. He was then followed by two others, including the unit supervisor (as it said on the side of his truck) We thought it was weird that one would pull up next to our van real slow like that. In retrospect I guess he was running our plates. Then they came up to us at the park and said that they got a report of a man taking pictures of kids at the park. Um, yeah! We've got 3 kids and he's taking pics of them playing. The cop said that he just had to make sure that everything was ok and that no kids were in danger. There was another grandpa there at the park taking pics of his granddaughter playing. They went up to the granddaughter (maybe 2 years old) and asked her if she knew the man who was taking pics of her. She told him that's her poppy! Sigh. It's sad that this is what has become commonplace in the world today. I wonder who it was who called us in thinking we were a threat by taking pics of our own kids. We're going back to the same park again today. Wonder if we'll be hassled again today? But on the bright side we did get some good pics. :D

Priceless

A bottle of suntan lotion 2.99
sandwich meat, bread, and cheese 6.99
all 3 kids sacked out on the living room floor from playing in the sprinklers at the park=PRICELESS

Gunshot.....or not

Allow me to set the scene........
9:00 pm
a dark storm is rolling in
rain is starting to spit on the windshield of the van
lightning cracks through the night sky
a semi decides to pass me going up a hill
KER-POW!!!!!
that sounded just like a gunshot in my ear!
Just as the semi was passing me his right tire blew and forced him off the road. Of course I stopped to just to make sure nothing was wrong with the van........and of course to change my britches! That scared the bejeebies outta me!

Heloise tip of the day

Two scoops of fresh ground coffee grounds put in a bowl in the fridge will make that weird, funky smell that developed over the weekend dissappear. Ask me how I know....

Note to self.....clean fridge before you leave on vacation.

IKEA

We went to Dallas again last weekend and we made a trip to IKEA. Oh my goodness! Talk about brain overload. LOL I could have stayed there all day and still not see everything. It's safe to say that I love that store. It's a good thing we don't live closer or I'd be making numerous trips there. We had limited room in the van so I couldn't buy a whole lot. We did manage to buy Jaz a new computer chair, some wastepaper baskets, some cutting mats, some bamboo (here's hoping I don't kill it with my black thumb!), an apple slicer and some tumblers. :D They had a really nice bed there that I would like but I guess that's for another time. And their as-is dept! Oh my...... If I could have found a way to get some bookshelves home. Rob is glad that I couldn't though and I think I heard a faint sigh of relief from his checkbook too.

photo into bag

This is the photo that I turned into a bag for my mom. I gave it to her over the weekend and like a goof I forgot to take a pic of the finished product! DOH! So use your imagination if you will and imagine this image printed on a piece of printable fabric with a purple backing and a cream colored lining with a lovely white zipper and lavendar zipper pull at the top. See? Isn't it great??? LOL
