Overkill

Apparently it was a very slow day for the APD yesterday. Sigh.... For the last week or so we've been meeting Rob for lunch at a local park. The park has sprinklers for the kids and lots of shade. So after we have our lunch the kids go and play. Yesterday we brought the camera so we could get some fun shots of the kids playing in the water. Everything was going well until 3....yes 3 cop cars pulled up. First there was one that slowly drove past our van and then made a u turn. He was then followed by two others, including the unit supervisor (as it said on the side of his truck) We thought it was weird that one would pull up next to our van real slow like that. In retrospect I guess he was running our plates. Then they came up to us at the park and said that they got a report of a man taking pictures of kids at the park. Um, yeah! We've got 3 kids and he's taking pics of them playing. The cop said that he just had to make sure that everything was ok and that no kids were in danger. There was another grandpa there at the park taking pics of his granddaughter playing. They went up to the granddaughter (maybe 2 years old) and asked her if she knew the man who was taking pics of her. She told him that's her poppy! Sigh. It's sad that this is what has become commonplace in the world today. I wonder who it was who called us in thinking we were a threat by taking pics of our own kids. We're going back to the same park again today. Wonder if we'll be hassled again today? But on the bright side we did get some good pics. :D

That IS really sad. I know an APD officer--gonna have to quizz him about why they do stupid stuff like that. :) Loved all your recent posts and flickr pics. Looks like you guys are having a fun summer so far!

They do it because someone called it in to dispatch... it is just a saftey measure...
